Stress Definition
Stress is defined as a physiological state that that stimulates mental tension and that which may lead to illness. There have been numerous reasons attributed to the cause of this state of mind, but most surprisingly, medics have in the recent past concurred that stress is part of life and that there would be no life without it. This is to direct your thinking to the fact that pressures of life are the main determinants of whether or not one is to live a stress free life. Quite naturally, this condition is unique to each and every person, such that a condition which may be stressful to one person may not have the same effect on another.
Prolonged stress is considered quite harmful, and it has been attributed to the unnecessary worrying of individuals. There is another type that is usually considered beneficial, as it usually borders on successful aftermaths. For instance passing an examination can have a stressful impact on somebody. This is the type that is under the positive type of stress. Failing an exam will definitely have a negative type of stress on a person. There is then the other type which is said to be neutral. Stressful circumstances can easily be converted to challenges, and then tackled as perfectly normal day to day moments.
Research has also shown that there are times when stress is linked to increased productivity. This has been said to be the type that will always take control of you suddenly and which happens to be as a result of conditions beyond your control. It is advisable that individuals who find themselves in such situations should try to overcome it through the best way possible and lean towards the type that will allow them perform optimally in their lives. Short term stress is referred to as acute, and this is the type that is usually brought about by work pressure. It is characterized by such symptoms as mild headaches, back pains and stomach problems
Chronic stress is the most serious of all stress types. It has been known to exist for longer periods and is usually as a result of serious problems or shortcomings such as poverty, continued failures in life and chronic illnesses. Those experiencing such may not even get to realize that they are living in stressful conditions until it has finally taken a toll on them. This is usually due to the fact that they get used to it.
